LG Electronics Launches 25-Inch AI Washing Machine in European Market

LG Electronics is expanding its washing machine offerings in the European market with the launch of a new 25-inch AI drum washing machine, tailored to the lifestyle preferences of European customers.

The new product will be unveiled at the IFA 2024, Europe’s largest consumer electronics trade show, which begins on September 6th in Berlin, Germany.

This marks LG Electronics’ first introduction of a 25-inch washing machine in Europe. The new model offers a wash capacity of 16kg, which is 3kg more than the 24-inch model, despite only being an inch wider.

Washing machine size is a critical selection factor in Europe, where machines are typically installed in various locations such as bathrooms or kitchens. While most washing machines sold in Europe are 24 inches wide to fit in tighter spaces, there are also larger 27-inch models available, albeit at a lower proportion.

LG Electronics developed this new product recognizing that customers with 24-inch machines are increasingly seeking larger capacities to accommodate growing families but prefer a smaller size than the 27-inch models at a reasonable price.

The new model is equipped with LG’s proprietary AI DD (Direct Drive) motor and 6 Motion technology, which analyzes the weight, humidity, and fabric type of the laundry load to automatically set the optimal washing motions. It also features the ‘TurboWash 360’ technology that can wash 3kg of laundry in just 39 minutes, and an ‘Auto Dosing System’ that dispenses the right amount of detergent based on the dirtiness of the load.

Additionally, in response to the growing number of pet-owning households, the new product includes a ‘Pet Care Cycle’ that uses hot water up to 60 degrees Celsius for washing and a four-step rinsing process to reduce pet odors embedded in clothes. According to tests conducted by Intertek, this cycle reduces unpleasant smells caused by trimethylamine, isovaleraldehyde, acetic acid, and methyl mercaptan by 99%.
