Doosan Robotics Partners with Microsoft for Next-Gen Collaborative Robots

Doosan Robotics announced on August 24th that it has entered into a partnership with Microsoft to develop a GPT (Generated Pre-trained Transformer)-based collaborative robot solution.

This collaboration aims to enhance Doosan Robotics’ software capabilities and improve the efficiency of its collaborative robots by utilizing Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service.

The new project will focus on integrating GPT technology into collaborative robots, allowing them to self-correct errors and perform tasks without human intervention.

This advancement is expected to significantly reduce the time required for programming the robots, thereby increasing operational efficiency.

For instance, tasks such as simultaneously cooking ramen and frying food, which previously required complex programming, can now be executed with simple commands.

The GPT-based collaborative robot solution will autonomously configure the optimal sequence of actions to complete the cooking process.

Additionally, when menu items change, there will be no need to reprogram the robot from scratch, as it can utilize the existing learned data to carry out the new tasks.

Ryu Jung-hoon, CEO of Doosan Robotics, stated, “The key to this solution is enabling collaborative robots to perform complex and diverse tasks while minimizing programming time.”

He added, “We plan to apply this solution to our upcoming software platform, ‘Dart Suite,’ which will further enhance the usability and functionality of our collaborative robots.”

Doosan Robotics plans to pilot the GPT-based collaborative robot solution in the food and beverage (F&B) sector later this year, with potential expansion into the manufacturing sector.
